2003 Vauxhall Astra Bertone, 109,000 miles
Silver Blue with Black Leather and Navy Blue Hood. Heated Seats.
This has been my personal car for the last year and a bit, and i’ve loved it.
Purchased from Facebook Marketplace, the guy had it up for just £750 because he had zero space and had just won it in a facebook ‘bonus ball’ raffle sort of thing! I was the first person there with the cash (which wasn’t hard, because Boris had just told everyone to stay at home)… So I gave him £650 and immediately drove it home, via Eurocarparts to buy a new battery.
It had a refresh of the paint sometime before I bought it, hence it looks fantastic. Under really harsh lights you can tell near the bottom of the car that it’s an amateur job, but parked on a sunny green at a car show, you’d never notice. The paint is smooth and consistent and it polishes up a right treat. I’m probably being harsh, the car looks great, and it’s been reliable.
I’ve replaced most of the exhaust system, although it is now blowing at the front (the one bit I didn’t replace) and as I’ve been driving my Volvo 940 since it arrived, I’ve not fixed it yet.
Inside it’s in great condition, the seats have been treated a few times (by me) with beeswax jojaba or whatever it’s called, Renepaur leather treatment stuff… So the seats are great, it’s let down by the plastics but then, it’s a 20 year old Vauxhall isn’t it? So really, give the old boy some credit. It’s got to be one of the cleanest Bertones out there.
I get about 38mpg out this car, and genuinely drive it everywhere with the roof off.
It comes with 1 key and the V5 and a stack of paperwork, detailing everything I’ve done with it, which includes 2 new front tyres and front discs and pads from Mintex. They are dimpled and grooved and this car stops really well. The rear discs and pads come with the car but I’ve not fitted them yet. The cambelt was done in 2017 when it was on just over 100,000 miles. It’s a peach of a car, I think i’ll regret parting with it.
