2001 Peugeot 306 Estate

I found this car on marketplace and messaged the seller to enquire, he simply replied saying ‘Dude, how is the Wave at Bristol?!’. (my profile photo is me surfing). We struck up a conversation about surfing, and that was it, I had to have it. Why…?

During my time living in Cornwall back when I was a cool surf coach and helping to run the surf society at Falmouth University, I used to run around in a 1998 Peugeot 306 Estate. It was a bit of a legend on campus, we’d pile it high with surfboards and people and I think the record for a taxi run into town was 9 passengers.

My old car. This car has a pretty good story too… I’ll tell write that up one day.

One day the surfboards were stacked so high we even had one tied to the side, being held on by the passenger with the rope out of the window.

We buy classic cars to relive our youth, and although i’m a bit early on the ‘reliving my youth’ thing, I simply had to buy this car. I can’t wait to get it (it’s local, and the seller is a Geoff Buys Cars viewer) so I can do my review. It’s a nicer spec inside than the one I had, although mine was a 1.9 TD and this is a 1.6 petrol.

These are great cars, elegantly designed, robust mechanically, simple to work on and capable of huge mileage.

This one has covered an incredibly low mileage figure of just 143,000 and had the cambelt done in 2018.
