I bought a 1996 Volvo 850 Estate and am turning it into a BTCC replica.
You can find all the details on the car here…
Part 1 – Getting it, and a walkaround
Part 2 – Fixing the missing exhaust
(with bits from various bits of scrap pipe, including a few donor parts from a Mercedes-Benz R107 500SLs and a couple of Morgans)
Part 3 – Road Trip to the Wrapper
In this video I take the Volvo up to Nottingham to meet Matthew from AntSigns (antsigns.co.uk). It’s 100ish miles and my first proper trip in the car. On the way I buy some HotWheels, do a bit of karaoke, find a Ferrari and then chat with Matt about how we are going to attack the vehicle wrap and paint. Didn’t get as much film as I’d have liked with Matt, but there will be more to come.
Part 4 – Any colour you want…
As long as it’s Black. No, I mean white. In Part 4 the car gets prepped and painted, all up in Nottingham a million miles from where I am. There’s not a great deal to say about this video, as at the time of writing (and editing), I’ve not actually seen the car yet! I am reliably informed that it’s looking fantastic. Eagle eyed viewers will notice the hole in the wing has been repaired, and we’ve done a headlamp wash/wipe delete on the front ready for sticker placement. Vinyl is coming next…
Part 5 – The big reveal…
19 ish days later, its time for the big reveal!
Part 5 – If it’s broke, do fix it
Day 1 with the finished Geoff ‘Vo and the suspension broke… so we fixed it with a little help from a Fiesta ST. Also in this video, a song about a tractor, a Toyota Celica Update and a bad impression of Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
